I have conquered the pile of oranges that had been accumulating on my counter recently.  This was one of my 13 Changes for 2013, so you can see in the above list I have officially marked that new thing I had never done before OFF my list.  First I had to decide how I was going to go about getting all that yummy juice out of the overwhelming pile of oranges.  My favorite online shopping site  - yes – we all know that I am the Amazon queen (I call it the WalMart of the internet).  I ordered a juicer attachment (24.50) to go on my Kitchen Aid Stand mixer.  I have never used the mixer for anything other than baking or cooking, but I decided to try it because all the juicers I found were around $80 this was the cheapest option I could find.

I figured out that slicing the oranges the same direction as the natural slice of the orange goes (shown above) it not the correct way – you get so much more juice if you slice it through the center (shown below).

As I was writing this post I was thinking about how my husband has been trying to drink so much OJ recently to prevent illness.  At least for us folks in the South – God has oranges ripe at just the right time to boost our immune system with that extra dose of vitamin C.  Even the simple small things just strike me every now and then of how God is always looking out for us.
